John Wesley's The Book of Common Prayer by furocious-studios

Here is the Dust Jacket for the Special edition that I've been editing since the beginning of the year.

This book is a Methodist Book of Common Prayer.

This is the original work by John and Charles Wesley published by them in 1784. This was their version of the English 1662 The Book of Common Prayer. It was intended to be a Minister’s Manual useful to the itinerant pastor. In the back of the book is a collection of Psalms and Hymns that they found inspiring and useful for Methodist’s services. It appears that these Hymns are from a variety of authors such as Issac Watts though no credits are referenced in the original.

The entire original work including scriptures has been transposed from the 18th Century original publication to the 21st Century digital age keeping all the original language and spellings so that students and researchers may make complete comparative studies of early Methodism and early Christian services and liturgies.

Prior works have been done producing a partial facsimile of the original book. This new publication is the first complete reproduction of the original book within it’s own volume and in modern text-type. The entire book has been prepared for print and eBook.

Rated Furocious

Journal Entry: Thu Feb 19, 2015, 10:37 AM

FEATURED CONTENT: at the bottom of this post

THE RATED FUROCIOUS PROJECT

This is a project I came up with for sheer entertainment purposes back in 2009. Soon after that I submitted my definition of furocious to the Urban Dictionary online.

The original furocious series started with off-putting undertones of unusual situations bordering on the mood of horror complete with the sensational shaky font.
The Furocious Chipmunk TM by furocious-studios  furocious_wild font by furocious-studios

THE RATED FUROCIOUS BADGE

Initially I came up with the Rated Furocious badge
RATED FUROCIOUS by furocious-studios

RATED FUROCIOUS the DA STAMPS

I didn't get much interest across the intranets because I did little to promote my project. Soon after in 2010 I published the idea here on DA.

I made several DA Stamps for the task of rating within the community.
Stamp Rated General by furocious-studios  Stamp Rated Teen by furocious-studios  Stamp Rated Furocious by furocious-studios  Stamp Rated Xtra Furocious by furocious-studios

A couple years later I liked the idea of the rubber stamp and came up with this
Rated-F by furocious-studios

And now that computers and mobile browsers commonly process images greater than 72 px I came up with this smaller version with a transparent background and another version for use with dark backgrounds such as in this journal.

Exhibit Book

Journal Entry: Sun Jan 6, 2013, 9:37 PM
My exhibit was a great success!

We had a great turn out for the reception and everyone seemed to have a great time.

To commemorate the event and as something special for those who couldn't make the show I've recently published a book featuring the sculpture from the exhibit and related work created at that time.  Everyone who has seen the book so far has been pleased with how it has turned out.

If you are interested in buying the book :pointr: www.lulu.com/spotlight/furocio… :pointl:

furocious-D Name Change

Journal Entry: Sat Jun 2, 2012, 11:00 AM
Name and URL Change

Wow, :D that is really cool that Premium members can change their username.

I've grandfathered enough deviantart perks I didn't want to just create a new Deviant Account so I've always kept the name Kepster and the url kepster.deviantart.com

Thanks to the powers that be I can change my username to something a bit more professional.  For a long time I've gone by my internet alias Kepster or Kep Jekura, a name I've been going by for about 15 years.  While preserving anonymity and security an alias doesn't bide well professionally short of using a DBA (Does Business As).  Over the years I've become more accustomed to using a DBA and even used to people calling me Kep.  But it's nice to know now I'm not stuck.

I would prefer another username but of course someone has parked on "furocious" which is an old unused account that it would be nice if Deviantart would recycle.  But I understand their reasons for not doing such.

So I decided to go with furocious-D, which goes along with furocious-studios www.furocious-studios.com … name furocious-studios is too long and makes an even longer url; furocious-D is not only shorter but represents the Deviant, or more specifically the Digital aspect of my Design.

Saying Goodbye to my Alias?

Probably not.  There are enough people who know me by my alias that I won't ever let it go.  Besides I'm too sentimental.  After all, why not hang onto a good pen-name.

Progress in formal Education
I'm sure some of you may have noticed I haven't been around much bugging everyone here on DA.  That is mainly due to being wrapped up in my studies at the University.  I've been studying hard trying to make up for the GPA I had accumulated in another life age.  I've almost got it where I need it to consider most graduate programs.  As long as I'm back to school I plan to go the distance.  At this point I have a year in since I've been back with only one semester to go.

This fall I will be returning for my final senior semester which means I'm up for my Senior Exhibit; that is set to run from October 23rd to November 12.  More on that later.

Rainy Days and Jeep Cruising

Journal Entry: Fri May 20, 2011, 3:21 PM
My Jeep is in the shop getting some maintenance I've been neglecting.  Hopefully the rain we should have left in April will give us a break in Michigan.  The jet stream has been coming from all different crazy angles...the other day the weather was rolling from east to west.  The Jeep should be back on the road or off of it by "Father's Day" just in time for a family outing :XD:

My kid is crazy into techno so I've been listening to the Tron Legacy Soundtrack with Daft Punk and Reconfigured the Remixes.  Between that and his liking for 8 Bit music I must say it is a the very least creative if not downright interesting :D

Back to Kentucky

Journal Entry: Thu May 5, 2011, 8:22 AM
I'm not just going for a visit.  Furocious Studios™ will relocate there for at least two years.  After almost 20 years I'm finally going back to finish up my college degree.  I have about a year's worth to finish up.  Art major of course.  Although I didn't major in art originally, it will be the easiest degree to finish up because that's where I took the most classes.  Go figure, some reason I couldn't stay away from the art department.  I kept taking more and more art classes even though I never intended it as my major.

So goodbye Michigan, hello Kentucky.

Religiously Confused

Journal Entry: Fri Nov 19, 2010, 8:47 PM
:shakefish: I'll never understand why a "Christian" would expect and hold a non-Christian to the same moral standard that they have.  "Hmm my dad is God and yours is the devil, why don't you act like me?  Oh wait!  Why am I acting like the devil if my daddy is God?!"

Hey!   The perfect method for evangelism!  Let's beat an unbeliever over the head and make them want to be a Christian!  I'll bet that will work every time!

:innocent: I thought the whole reason we are still here is that God wants to rescue His lost children not speed them on their way to a fiery demise.
Otherwise He would have toasted this place long time ago :flame:

Bring Back Heroscape

Journal Entry: Sat Nov 6, 2010, 9:49 PM
:ambulance: No!  Don't Cancel My Game! :shakefish:

I remembered seeing this game years ago and thinking "I've Got to Get that Game!"  I decided to wait because I was too poor at the time.  Then about a year ago I found it again in a local Comic shop and I couldn't resist.  Oh I wish I had bought it when I first saw it because it is a blast!

Now the company that is marketing it is thinking it is going to let it go.  Many of the hardcore fans want to make one last ditch effort to keep the game rolling.:plotting:

Sooo go here to check it out >> www.heroscapers.com/community/… <<

They are going to mail in a game tile that says "Bring it Back" written in marker.  At the very least it sounds like fun and the game will go out with a bang!

I can't say how much I love to play this game you HAVE to go and play it.  It's a fun experience!  :w00t:

Zombie Roadkill

Journal Entry: Sat Oct 30, 2010, 9:12 PM
Ok, so I came by this "Halloween" Furocious content type show on the Web.  It was in one of the adds on StarWars.com in case you are wondering where I've been surfing.  So why post a journal about it?  Well it features a furocious evil squirrel no other real reason than that.
Stamp Zombie Roadkill by furocious-studios

The original concept of the Furocious Chipmunk™ came from a similar gruesome theme.  Even though this picture of the classic standoff between man and beast is rather mild some of the original concept sketches were very macabre.

Here is a throwback to that idea.

Finally getting used to Mac

Journal Entry: Mon Oct 25, 2010, 10:41 AM
:macos:

I'm finally getting things situated to the point I am enjoying life on mac.  Most of the programs I've depended on over the years on windows I've figured out that either Mac already has a setting for that or there's a good open source that does the job.  A few programs I've shelled out some cash here and there but nothing that has set me back.

I am so amazed that nothing is really hogging my system resources.  I was so used to that with :windows: it is so nice to finally be free.  Why all those programs have to try and take over Windows I'll never know.  And paying money for a program that is essentially virus that destroys your system to protect your computer from other viruses and spyware that is insanity.

The stage is set, maybe I'll finally get back to doing actual ART on my computer.  I've got everything I need to make it happen.

When I look back on 10 years wasted time fixing stuff that is always breaking on Windows...all the sleep I've lost and the times I've wanted to pour lighter fluid on my tech and burn it on the lawn, what a shame!  I could have been doing something creative.  Hehe don't ask me to fix your computer anymore, I haven't really used Windows Vista or Windows 7.

Vices or Life?

Journal Entry: Sun Apr 25, 2010, 5:47 AM
Work, Eating and Sleeping Indoors, fixing up the house so it remains somewhat livable...

Ok, maybe that stuff is necessary.  Is it a vice to be checking email and "community" blurbs?

...ah yes I'm sure this stuff falls under vices, here we go, watching Meh shows (Smallville, Clone Wars, Dr Who), setting up Heroscape battlefields and worrying about stats and cards for custom minis(and surfing countless hours to "research" such things...and then there's the ebay searches and watches).

So that leaves zero time for sketching and painting.

So is all that a good enough excuse not to sketch and paint?  I suspect that if something is truly important, that if something is worthy of being done, then you make the time for it.  Actually my suspicions tell me that you will do the things that are most comfortable and convenient to do.  If you want to do something extraordinary then you must not only make the time but also make some sacrifices of the things you enjoy.

My advice to me is to make art not excuses.

My advice to you...make time for what is truly important.  Don't settle for contentment.  Do something extraordinary with the life you have in what little time you have.  Which may mean doing a little less of what you like to do in order to do what you previously only dreamed you might do.

Furocious [furrr-roh-shuhs]
–adjective
1. furry, fur-like, fuzzy, animalistic in appearance with a tendency to act out in a wild, savage, and or fierce manor.

2. savagely brazen or bold, having a primal clarity in directive, as a wild beast, a person, action, function, or idea: a furocious exposition

3. intense or extreme: a furocious hunger

—Synonyms 1. ravenous, relentless, furvid, veracious

—Related forms
fur·o·cious·ly, adverb
fur·o·cious·ness, noun

Now found in the Urban Dictionary www.urbandictionary.com/define…

This last time I did a search on the word furocious I was surprised that it is actually used quite a bit.  Since it is in use I thought it would be a good idea to have an official definition.  Once it's out there in that capacity it should start popping up more often.

Name that Bug!!! - MYSTERY SOLVED

Journal Entry: Mon Jan 4, 2010, 8:56 AM
June 13, 2009</U>(original submission)

Ok so here's the deal.  I was out to the Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek Michigan with my family a couple years ago.  We were back on the Swamp Adventure area.  We've noticed all kinds of different wildlife out there during our many visits everything from snakes, salamanders, squirrels and chipmunks to cranes and hawks.  This time we saw this crazy bug about the size of a crane-fly (aka a mosquito eater).  It flew through the air and on the tips of its wings or legs or whatever it looked like flashing lights.  I don't know maybe it was some sort of dragonfly... all I know is it was the coolest bug I've ever seen.

If only I had thought of my camera phone at the time.  So anyway here is an impressionistic image that approximates what it was like.

I've looked through several insect identification sites but can't seem to figure out what it is.  I was hoping that if I knew what it was and more about it I could find one again some day maybe even catch it on film.

Anyone have a clue what it could have been?

UPDATE JAN 4, 2010</U>
Ok I was on the right track.  The bug is indeed a crane fly but more specifically it is a "Phantom Crane Fly."  The unique coloring was what threw me off.  I'm used to a plane ordinary crane fly that looks like a giant mosquito.

On Christmas Day I was surfing around and for some reason stumbled through this site and found my bug www.whatsthatbug.com/ (search Phantom Crane Fly)

If anyone has a chance to see one flying around you will know why this bug created such a mystery.  First of all they hover and float through the air.  It actually appears like it was floating in air like a water strider would float on water.  Because of their coloration and changes in lighting they almost seem to disappear and reappear in thin air.  I looked on youtube but couldn't find any footage of one flying.

Anyone who captures footage of a Phantom Crane Fly in flight let me know!
